- Logo Inspection
- The customer’s design is inspected carefully to make sure it’s high enough quality to replicate and to see if any modifications need to be made for screen printing.
- Vectoring
- Using a vectoring program, we recreate the logo from the ground up so that it’s constructed of shapes and points.
- Virtual Proof
- The design is compared to color swatches of available ink colors and a virtual proof is created for customer approval.
- Color Separation & Film Printing
- Once the proof is approved, the artwork is color separated and each color section is printed in black on its own transparent inkjet film. Each separation is kept in place by using “registration marks” so that the artwork can be pieced back together later.
- Screen Emulsion & Selection
- Screens are coated with exposure emulsion that hardens when light touches it. Depending on the detail of the art, a low or high mesh screen is chosen to create a stencil for each color separation.
- TRI-LOC® Film Lineup
- Using the TRI-LOC® system, the color separation films are lined up on separate screens by using transfer sheets that keep the separations locked in place to recreate the original artwork.
- Screen Burning
- Once the color separation films are applied to the emulsion covered screens via TRI-LOC®, they are set in a high-exposure unit to harden the emulsion. The light casts a shadow on the areas printed on the color separation films, keeping those areas wet.
- Screen Rinse & Dry
- After the screen is burned, it’s taken to a washout booth where the wet spots of the screen will be washed out to create a stencil. Once the wet emulsion is completely removed, the screen is dried lightly via air compressor.
- TRI-LOC® Screen Lineup
- Using the TRI-LOC® system, each screen is lined up to a single pallet and locked into place.
- Ink Application
- Using the proof as a reference, inks are selected by color and applied to each screen respectively.
- Test Print
- Each color separation printed and then evaluated to ensure that all of the registration marks on the screens are aligned with each other. After approval, the test print is compared to the proof, and then the registration marks are taped off to start on the actual order.
- Heat Curing
- Once the garment is completely printed, it is removed from the pallet and placed on a conveyor belt that takes it through a heater to “cook” the ink. The temperature will fluctuate based on garment type, but some items can come out as hot as 350 degrees!
- Final Inspection
- Individual garment is inspected and placed by size to prepare for packaging.
- Screen Reclaiming
- After the order is completed, the screens are scraped of any excess ink, coated in chemicals to break up the dried emulsion, rinsed completely, and re-coated in emulsion for the next job.
